The college’s Department of Biotechnology are recruiting a Lecturer to join their active teaching environment.

Job Description:

The successful applicant will contribute to unit development and coordination, and lecturing and laboratory teaching in core units for the B.A (Hons) in Microbiology offered by the college.  The role will involve:

Speech Therapist/Pathologist Trainer in Sri Lanka

Project length: 4 months

Organisation summary:

Our partner in Sri Lanka is expanding their services for persons living with disabilities (PLWDs).  They are in the process of setting up a resource base equipped with specially trained personnel (physiotherapists/speech therapists) and advanced equipment.

A volunteer is required to provide expert training and guidance on speech therapy and speech/language pathology for PLWDs to staff at our partner’s Community Based Rehabilitation (CBR) Unit.

Job Description:

The volunteer will work from 8:30am – 4:30pm Monday to Friday and participate in other special events with the CBR staff.  Typical duties of the role will involve:

  • Training staff on therapeutic physical exercises for children with disabilities
  • Accompanying staff on field visits to PLWDs
  • Helping to assess disabilities and train staff to do so
  • Engaging in rehabilitative work with children.
The volunteer will also maintain an activity record from the initial day until the end of the placement, and provide a copy of this to Challenges.
Accommodation will be provided at the organisation’s premises.  Volunteers will make arrangements for their meals and other personal requirements.

 

Requirements:

The volunteer should possess knowledge and skills in speech therapy and other rehabilitative skills for persons with hearing/speech impairments, together with training skills.  They should be compassionate and understanding towards minimal conditions prevalent at the rehabilitation centres.

Project length: 4 months

Sri Lanka Enterprise Development (SLED) is a Scottish Government funded project providing consultancy services to SME’s, especially in remote rural areas.  SLED aims to develop a sustainable programme of training and mentoring aimed at creating and expanding a pool of qualified business consultants capable of delivering a range of services tailored to the needs of Sri Lankan SMEs.

Job Description:

They urgently require a business management consultant with business planning and strategy experience.  Consultants will spend up to 3 months in-country providing:
